Reduce altitude-sickness risk
Give your body time to acclimatize rather than making a large jump in sleeping elevation.
If symptoms consistent with altitude illness develop, do not sleep higher until they resolve.
Worsening symptoms, confusion, loss of coordination or severe breathlessness can require descent and urgent medical evaluation.
Fitness and hydration
Being physically fit does not make a traveler immune to altitude illness. Normal hydration is sensible, but drinking excessive water is not a substitute for acclimatization.
Medication
Acetazolamide can be useful for some itineraries and risk profiles. Medication decisions should be discussed with a clinician rather than treated as an affiliate recommendation.
General hiking gear
These products are travel gear only; they are not presented as prevention or treatment for altitude sickness.
